Risha Resort
A Nature Driven Retreat in the Heart of Choman
Tucked between the snow covered mountains of Przhe - Choman in the Kurdistan mountains., Risha Resort is more than just a destination, it’s a return to nature. The project was imagined as a calm retreat, where architecture dissolves into the landscape and guests reconnect with the earth, water, and sky.
From the early site visits to detailed zoning and material choices, every step of the design was shaped by the site's topography, psychology, and natural elements.
The design integrates private houses, luxury tents, a farm area, restaurant, ballroom with infinity pool, gym, and spa, all carefully positioned to respect the landscape and enhance the mountain experience, The architecture blends modern forms with the terrain, creating a seamless connection between built space and nature.

01 - Masterplan & Project Overview

02 - Design Logic & Site Response
Zoning Diagram : Every space has a role, from isolated tents to open restaurants.

Circulation: Organizing pedestrian and vehicular movement to preserve natural slope and existing features.

Sectional Cut : Understanding topographic slope, river location, and natural water flows.

Daylight Duration : The building layout responds to seasonal sun angles for comfort and energy efficiency.

Sun Path : Early light to late shade passive comfort informed by solar behavior.

Site Ecology & Natural Context : the site sits subtly within a vast ecological system of snow-covered peaks, seasonal meltwater, and valley landforms.

View Analysis : Cardinal orientation of the most impactful views from every key zone.
Wind Direction : Working with nature, not against it, wind flow informed placement and form.

03 - Materiality and Earth Connection

06 - Reality & Vision – Site Photo match
One of the critical technical processes during the visualization phase was achieving a precise photo match between the 3d model and the real terrain. By aligning key landscape features such as the mountain ridge lines, river curvature, and natural slopes, the visualization accurately mirrors how the resort will sit within its actual topography. This alignment not only ensures aesthetic realism but also allows the design team to assess the emotional and environmental harmony between the proposed architecture and its untouched rugged surroundings, The final renders are not simply imagined views, but calibrated visuals statement grounded in geographical truth.

Back to Earth
Risha Resort is a whisper in the mountains, an architecture that yields before it speaks.
Rather than imposing form, it follows the rhythm of the land, letting the topography carve it's own logic into the masterplan. Structures appear where the slope permits, paths follow the lines of melted snow, and spaces open to catch the sun and silence. The materials, stones, canvas, timber, are not aesthetic gestures, but echoes of the land itself. Each element lives lightly, like it was always meant to be there. A tent nestled among peaks. A path shaped by memory. An architecture that does not arrive, but returns.
Risha is not a destination. It's a remembering, a gentle call to live slower, simpler, closer to earth.
